PTFE Coating Systems

PTFE is one of the best-known fluoropolymers in the nonstick field. It is defined as a polymer containing carbon and fluorine. The structure is linear and consists of thousands of CF2-CF2 groups. The extreme properties are due to the very strong carbon-fluorine bonds.
PTFE is primarily a homopolymer, a polymer made from a single monomer (TFE).

Properties of PTFE

  • Highest chemical and solvent resistance
  • Lowest coefficient of friction among polymers and highest non-stick properties
  • Continuous use temperature up to 260°C [500 °F]
  • High electrical resistivity >1018 (ohm-cm)
